- I. EVALUATION - BEFORE officer training (Old
Exec)
- A. Individual
- What you have done with your office.
- What you are in the process of doing.
- What you would have done if you could do it all over again.
B. Group - completed in an exec meeting
- Same as above - group goals and accomplishments.
- II. REVIEW HANDBOOKS AND MANUALS
- A. Old officers should review contents before O.T. - do not
make assumptions new officers will understand full scope of
position.
- B. Highlight important sections.
- C. List duties and responsibilities - make sure they adhere to
handbooks.
- III. OFFICER TRAINING SESSION
- A. Schedule date and add to calendar well in advance of
elections, if possible - old and new will attend.
- B. Overnight or all-day affair away from chapter
house/campus.
- C. Have advisors present for some portion.
- D. Order of Events:
- Purpose
- Break into groups - old, new, advisor
- a. Handbooks
- b. Report form due dates - National and University -
copies sent where, when.
- c. Decide degree of communication between advisor and
officers. Keep advisors aware of everything.
- Old with New - review group evaluation
- New Exec alone to set goals: Improvements are always
possible. The perfect chapter has yet to be found. Honestly
determine where you are weak, and turn the weaknesses to
assets.)

- IV. TRANSITION
- A. Allow time between elections and installation - assumption
of duties - Especially true for elections close to
finals.
B. Refer to the resident expert, "the old officer,"
whenever possible. Their opinion is valuable and will often save
you time and effort.
